1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern all supply of goods and services ("products") by Mother and Daughter Event Hire to you, the purchaser ("customer"), including any use of our website at www.mxdEventHire.com.

By booking our services or hiring equipment, you agree to be fully bound by these Terms and Conditions. These Terms replace all previous versions and may be updated at any time by notice on our website.

To make a purchase or booking, you must be at least 18 years of age and authorised to enter into this agreement.

2. Definitions

  • The Company: Mother and Daughter Event Hire

  • The Customer: The person hiring services or equipment from the company

  • The Equipment: All items supplied to or hired by the customer

  • The Hire Period: Begins when items are collected or delivered, and ends when items are returned or collected by the company

  • The Hire Agreement: The contract entered into by the customer and the company

3. Quotes

All quotes remain valid for 14 days. Prices are subject to change after this period.
All orders are subject to product and date availability at the time of booking.

4. Bookings and Payments

A non-refundable booking fee of 50% of the total invoice amount is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days prior to the event date.
If payment is not received in full by this date, the company reserves the right to cancel the booking.

Payment options:

  • Bank Transfer: Please use your Order Number + Event Date as the payment reference.

  • Credit Card/PayPal: Available via secure payment links on request.

Travel Fee: $2.00 per km (one way) from our premises to the event location.

5. Cancellations

All cancellations result in the loss of the non-refundable booking fee.

If cancellation occurs within one week of the hire period, the company reserves the right to retain the full payment.

6. Hire Items

All hire items remain the property of Mother and Daughter Event Hire at all times.
A refundable security deposit of $100 may be required per order, refunded upon satisfactory inspection of items after return.

Customers are responsible for all hired items during the entire hire period. Lost, stolen, or damaged items will be invoiced for repair or full replacement value.

Hire items must not be re-hired, loaned, or altered without written consent from the company.

7. Care of Installed Items

Once an installation is completed and signed off, full responsibility for its care transfers to the customer.
Mother and Daughter Event Hire is not liable for damage caused by weather, children, pets, venue staff, or guests after installation.
If items are moved, dismantled, or interfered with by anyone other than our staff, the customer accepts full liability for any resulting damage or additional costs.

8. Outdoor Balloon Displays

While every effort is made to prepare and install balloons to a high standard, Mother and Daughter Event Hire cannot guarantee the longevity or condition of any balloons installed outdoors.

Exposure to sun, heat, wind, rain, humidity, or cold can cause balloons to oxidise, lose their shine, deflate, or pop. Once installed, balloon performance and durability are outside our control, and no refunds or replacements will be provided for weather-related damage.

9. Photo Booth Usage

The customer is responsible for providing:

  • Safe and reliable access to power

  • A flat, dry surface for setup

  • Adequate shelter if outdoors

Mother and Daughter Event Hire will not be liable for malfunctions caused by venue power issues, environmental factors, or guest interference.

In the event of unavoidable technical issues (e.g. software/hardware failure, power outage), we will make all reasonable efforts to resolve the issue on-site. Partial refunds will only be considered if the booth is unable to operate for the majority of the hire period.

10. Setup & Packdown

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the venue owner/operator has granted permission for our setup.

If our team is unable to access the venue within 30 minutes of the agreed time, a waiting fee of $55 per 30 minutes (or part thereof) will apply.

If access is delayed to the extent that installation cannot be completed safely or on time, the company reserves the right to cancel the setup without refund.

11. Weather Postponements

If weather conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable for installation, Mother and Daughter Event Hire may offer to reschedule the booking (subject to availability).
If rescheduling is not possible, standard cancellation terms will apply.

We will not be responsible for refunds due to weather-related cancellations.

12. Health & Safety

The health and safety of our staff, customers, and guests are paramount.
If a location or weather condition makes it unsafe to install equipment, we reserve the right to delay, adjust, or cancel installation until conditions improve.

Our staff also reserve the right to withdraw services if they feel unsafe, threatened, or harassed in any way.

13. Unforeseeable Circumstances

The company will not be held liable for delays or non-performance caused by events beyond our control, including:
Acts of God, fire, flood, storm, war, pandemic, strikes, lockouts, road closures, or other civil disturbances.

14. Returns & Refunds

We do not provide refunds for change of mind.
If goods are faulty, we will meet our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (NZ).

15. Marketing & Photography

Mother and Daughter Event Hire reserves the right to photograph and/or video event setups, installations, and hire items for promotional purposes (including social media and website use).
If you prefer not to have your setup photographed for promotional use, please notify us in writing prior to your event.

16. Indemnity

The customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Mother and Daughter Event Hire, its staff, and contractors from any claims, damages, or costs arising from the use or misuse of hired equipment, except where caused by proven negligence of the company.

17. Applicable Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes will be handled within New Zealand’s legal jurisdiction.

18. Privacy & Confidentiality

Your privacy is important to us. We collect only the information necessary to provide our services.
We will not share your personal details with third parties except as required by law.
By using our services, you consent to the use of your information as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

19. Acknowledgement

By proceeding with your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to Mother and Daughter Event Hire’s Terms & Conditions.
You acknowledge that these Terms form part of your service agreement and are legally binding.
